We, at JREDS, believe that only in partnership with the private sector, other national, regional and international environmental and development institutions, can we achieve our mission of marine conservation. To this end, JREDS works hard to nourish its relationships, partnerships and networks so as to promote marine conservation.
At the regional level, JREDS presence is rapidly growing and we are working hard on increasing the national and regional interest in conservation of the environment, in general, and the marine environment in particular. We are also working with regional NGOs on capacity building programs, with the aim of establishing a regional network of environmental institutions.
At the international level, JREDS recognizes the importance of the role being a liaison among the international community, and we are actively involved with the (The World Conservation Union) IUCN programs and networks. The Quebec Labrador Foundation is a very important partner in expanding our horizons.
JREDS is hosting the Global Environment Facility (GEF) - Small Grants a UNDP program. This partnership with GEF Small Grants has enabled JREDS to network with GEF’s beneficiaries and local counterparts. We are also hosting the Royal Botanical Garden which is a center for native plant conservation, public education, and scientific research.
