Bahrain clicks on to cyber classes...

BAHRAIN is leaping into the future with the creation of cyber classes through a contract signed with Integrated Technology Group ,Amman Jordan for secondary school pupils.

The King Hamad Future Schools Project is already ahead of schedule, says Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi.His Majesty King Hamad officially launched the EduWave Platform yesterday at Al Hedaya Al Khalifya Secondary School for Boys in Muharraq - the first school in the country, which opened in 1919.

The King hit the computer keyboard to officially launch e-learning in secondary schools. He was accompanied by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Transportation Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and Prime Minister's Court Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. The King pressed 'Enter' on a computer keyboard to officially open the project, then spent time talking with students at various schools via the Internet and urging them to excel in their studies.

Dr Al Nuaimi said in his speech at the ceremony that all was going well with the scheme, which was introduced last September and which enables pupils to communicate with teachers and pupils from other schools via the Internet. It also allows tutors to reach pupils at multiple schools at the click of a computer mouse.
